We're Leaving @ Sunrise
“We’re Leaving @ Sunrise”
18-in X 24-in
acrylic on canvas panel
Nov. 2024
Another painting from my series exploring unusual atmospheric conditions that some people (not me..., other people) tend to confuse with physical objects (sometimes structured flying crafts). This particular piece, titled “We’re Leaving @ Sunrise,” is my attempt to depict the atmospheric phenomenon known as a temperature inversion, which is caused by the mixing of warm and cold air. I hope that showing what some of these completely ordinary weather events actually look like will prove, in at least some people's minds, that there's nothing unusual about these phenomenon…
We're Leaving @ Sunrise is an original 18" x 24" acrylic painting on stretched canvas that bridges retro-futuristic sci-fi mystique with heart-centered visionary abstraction. Dominating the upper canvas, a sleek, stylized cosmic vessel hovers before a blaze of dawn-orange solar rays bursting into the morning sky. The craft features a textured deep-teal celestial dome, intricate graphic hull plates, and luminous blue circular portals.
Suspended directly beneath the craft is a shimmering, textured heart-shaped energy node that anchors the composition. Cascading downward from the heart is a symmetrical network of churning waves, vortex spirals, and aerodynamic plumage-like currents in vivid cerulean, turquoise, emerald, and glowing coral. Balancing sharp graphic linework with tactile impasto and sparkling accents, this original painting radiates transformative, uplifted energy—making it an unforgettable centerpiece for visionary art collectors and sci-fi enthusiasts alike.
