“Something Spherical”
12-in X 16-in
acrylic on canvas panel
May 2025
Pulsing with raw elemental vitality, this original mixed-media painting captures the fiery energy of a celestial solar vortex. At the core of the piece lies an expansive, hypnotic spiral winding outward from a deep turquoise center into rich, concentric rings of scarlet, crimson, and burnt orange. Heavy impasto texturing and contrasting cool turquoise grooves give the spiral disc an organic, churning dimensional depth that commands immediate attention.
Radiating outward from the solar disc is a dynamic halo of pointed stellar rays, defined by bold black contour linework and intricate internal patterns. The background radiates with energetic cross-hatching, stippled dots, and textured striations in electric teal, lime green, and ultramarine blue. The intense color temperature contrast between the fiery crimson core and the vibrant cool spectrum of the corona evokes a cosmic dance of fire and light, fusing sacred geometry with psychedelic expressionism.
