“Pumpkinseed”
9-in X 12-in
acrylic on canvas panel
Oct. 2024
The Pumpkin seed is (in my opinion) one of the most beautiful fish you’ll find in East Tennessee. They don’t get very big… I’ve never seen one bigger than my hand; but their striking patterns of vibrant colors mixed with their aggressive predatory instincts (which I appreciate in a fish) make them one of my favorite freshwater species. This acrylic painting is my tribute to the Pumpkin seed - a dynamic celebration of rhythm and color, this piece draws the viewer into a swirling vortex of vivid blues, energetic oranges, and radiant jewel tones. Layered with tactile brushwork, dotted linework, and textured patterns, the spiraling center exudes cosmic motion and warmth, balanced by patterned circular motifs in the corners. Full of vibrant movement and kaleidoscopic depth, it makes a striking, uplifting focal point for any contemporary art collection.
