“All My Rowdy Friends 'R Comin' Over Tonight”
18-in X 24-in
acrylic on canvas panel
Sept. 2024
Greetings from the Vortex friends! This original acrylic painting is from my “Me & Baleaux” series exploring the unusual experiences of me and my dog(s) (sometimes Buddy & Hazel (a.k.a.. Stinky) come along, but Baleaux never leaves my side…. This particular piece titled, “All My Rowdy Friends 'R Comin' Over Tonight” depicts me, Baleaux & Buddy running into some friends while taking a walk.
All My Rowdy Friends 'R Comin' Over Tonight is an original 18" x 24" acrylic painting on canvas panel that playfully merges country-folklore warmth with retro sci-fi mystery and visionary cosmic surrealism. Standing in the lower foreground atop a grassy ridge, the silhouetted figure of a person and their dog wave in friendly welcome to celestial visitors descending from the night sky.
Two classic flying saucers hover overhead, casting down vibrant, multi-angled tractor beams of golden yellow, fiery red, and radiant blue. Flowing through the center is a swirling ribbon of emerald and turquoise spirals accented with sparkling glitter and pointillist stippling, while an ornate, radiant star diamond blazes in the upper corner. Full of kinetic joy, bold primary contrasts, and tactile texturing, this artwork delivers a whimsical, story-driven centerpiece for modern art collections, sci-fi enthusiasts, and visionary art lovers alike.
